This is a heart wrenching love song about the love of a father for his children.
I was asked to come up with a Father's Day song for a sunday service and I really wanted to write something instead of singing someone else's song. Well I sat down and asked the Holy Spirit to help me write a song about The Cross of Calvary from Father God's perspective. He then asked me, "how would you feel if you were in His position?" Having two wonderful little boys at the time I began to draw on my feelings for them as a father. I added the last section after being reminded of a missions conference I had attended just before this and how the Muslims look down on Christians for believing that Father God could have sent His very own son to His death. They believe that we dishonor Him in doing so. Well if God says in John 15:13 that "greater love has no man than to lay down his life for another". I know that God had to be bursting with pride on the day of his crucifixion.

At twelve years old I could not comprehend
How it must have made you feel
To see His blood soaked face
I know I did not understand
Why you'd give new life to me and take my place
But when I look in the eyes of my own son
I see a war of love that had to be won
And a priceless prize that no one could shun
Chorus
When you see the world through fathers eyes
You see a world of hope and love, and helpless cries
When you see a child through fathers eyes
And feel a world of hope and love, you watch Him die

"Peace on earth good will toward man"
Now that I'm a father too I think I understand
But one think I can't imagine still
Of how anxious joy for two days must build
Knowing that the war is won
And in the bowels of the earth is your only son
And that He will rise to be the KING OF KINGS
Chorus
3
It must have filled your heart with pride to watch
He did not walk away, He did not walk away
It must have filled your heart with pride to watch
He did not walk away, He did not walk away
It must have filled your heart with pride to watch
That little boy become the King of Kings
