Bed Of Nails creates rock songs with a strong acoustic side, augmented by electric guitars, mandolin, bass, drums, etc.
Bed Of Nails is powered by the guitars of Robbie Atkins. Robbie also plays most other instruments (yes, he is a multitasking MoFo) and does much of the production. Alan Dean writes the lyrics and does primary vocal duties as well as co-producing. Our musical tastes are quite diverse, including Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Joe Satriani, Kiss, Ozzy, and on to Gabriel, King Crimson, Yes, Rush, Supertramp and Genesis. Our newest two songs are Crack Your Skull and Tell The World Today, two entirely different types of songs. Crack Your Skull, an angry, aggressive song about our pressurized, stressed modern world where people go through their daily lives on the edge and ready to snap at the least provocation. Tell The World Today is a modern 'save the world' type song akin to the protest songs of the 60s but with a minimalist electronica backing. Tell The World Today is actually an intro to a longer song that has not yet been completed but here is a taste of the whole composition. These two songs address a society on the brink from two completely different perspectives, one hopeful and engaged in finding a solution and one a desperate and defeated and angry view. Enjoy.

Story behind the song
This song examines the pressures of modern American life. The loss of privacy, the insinuation of the government and private industry into individual's lives and the growing tensions between people who are all under great stress due to an ever increasing loss of freedom and control of their own lives due to a gigantic social engineering project gone incredibly wrong. A new generation of angry, frustrated Americans continues to erupt into irrational violence with little provocation. People are just living their lives on the verge of a meltdown, primed and ready for that one little thing that will release their pent up tensions onto some unsuspecting target. This is a society of great violence. This is America.
