Maelstrom are an alternative/Goth/Punk influenced band based in Stoke-On-Trent,Staffordshire,England.Influenced by bands like Siouxsie And The Banshees,The Cure A U.K. alternative band with Goth/Punk overtones.Formed in 1999 and boasting female vocals remeniscent of classic Siouxsie And The Banshees and Penetration. Powerful yet moving.Gritty yet smooth. These are the qualities that make the band known as 'Maelstrom'.

We started back in late january, 2005. We havent really made a sound for ourselves yet on account of most of us being new to the whole band thing. We like to call ourselves emo/punk/hardcore. Mainly because its the common denominator for all of us when it comes to music. We're from Newfoundland, Canada (a place known better for its fishing industry than its 'booming' music scene). We have expectations of being an actual GOOD band from Newfoundland, because anyone who knows what its like here won...

THE SICK FUNK!!! We are loud. We are proud. We do whatever the fu#$ we want. Make it loud. Make it sick. Energy, Sex, Love, Hate, Disorder, Hope, Raw Emotion. These are the elements making up the intense force of Str8jackit. This metal/hard rock 4 piece is blending aggressive beats and guitars with distinctive melodies, funky styling and hardcore grooves for an overall head bashing, kick-in-the-pants experience. This is the sick funk bitches.
