It's Been a Good Week!

They say to get a little gain you must suffer a little pain..... Well we had an early snow and the power was out with no heat or water for 3 days before it was restored.... not nearly what the hurricane victims in Galveston and New Orleans but enough to make me realize how lucky I was., but it was cold with temperatures going down at night to the mid 20's..... But through all that "Lady of the Light" has gone to number 1 for the sixth time in a roller coaster ride at Neil Young's Living With War site. The Lady has been consistently in the Top10 for close to 10 months now....... Also here at SoundClick 2 of my songs reached new highs.
"Lady of the Light": # 22 in Acoustic (highest position was 22). Total songs: 109,088 # 2 in Acoustic Rock (highest position was 2). Total songs: 16,944 ...."Peace On Earth, Merry Christmas", # 174 in Country (highest position was 174). Total songs: 39,560 # 15 in Rockabilly (highest position was 15). Total songs: 1,205 .... I do want to thank all of you because without you, none of this would of ever happened!.....Election time is upon us and for those here in the US, so don't forget to head on over to the polls to cast your vote!...I'm trying to get some quality time in my own studio but it seems lately something or other comes up to prevent me from doing so. I'm sure it's happened to some of you...... I also believe it will happen when it happens and not until then, if you know what I mean....Stop over at Neil's place and give the "Lady of the Light" a visit ....

WHICH ONE IS AVIS? eMusic said it has now sold more than 200 million downloads since establishing its current subscription model in November 2003, and is now operating at a monthly clip north of 7 million tracks worldwide. The store claims more than 400k subscribers, further asserting that it’s the #2 download service, although that’s disputed by some observers, who point to Wal-Mart or Amazon in the absence of concrete data. In any case, the difference between iTunes and whatever store is #2 is like that between Mt. Everest and an anthill. (4/15a)
UP AGAINST THE WAL: All of a sudden, Wal-Mart finds itself in the center of the action. Along with the Hertz-Avis question of who's #1 and the announcement of the exclusive release of Bryan Adams’ 11 (see below), the chain last week removed downloads from Warner Music and Sony BMG, the result of a negotiation impasse surrounding DRM-free licensing, according to Digital Music News, which has been following the story. In the meantime, the retail giant is offering an exclusive Mariah Carey interview, part of its in-studio series, Soundcheck. (4/9a)
CHANGING THEIR iTUNE: The Big Four music distributors confirm that Wal-Mart is still the #1 music retailer, not Apple’s iTunes, and are wondering where the NPD Group, which made the original claim, got its information. All four acknowledged that they are billing more with Wal-Mart than Steve Jobs’ online store. (4/8p)
BRYAN’S SONGS: Following the lead of The Eagles, Bryan Adams’ new studio album, 11, his first in four years, will be released exclusive through Wal-Mart and Sam’s Clubs nationwide, as well as on www.walmart.com in CD and MP3 formats. In the last month, 11 debuted in the Top Ten of 11 international charts, including #1 in Canada, India and Switzerland; #2 in Austria, Denmark and Germany; #4 in Portugal; #6 in the U.K and #8 in Holland. The album, recorded in hotel rooms and backstage concert venues through Europe over the last two years, is his 11th of all-original music and features 11 songs. (4/8p)

A SONG ALONE

No one song can change the world. But that doesn't mean it's time to stop singing.
Somewhere on Earth a scientist is alone working. No one knows what he or she is thinking. The secret is just within reach. If I knew that answer I would be singing the song.
This is the age of innovation. Hope matters. But not hope alone. In the age of innovation, the people's fuel must be found. That is the biggest challenge. Who is up to the challenge? Who is searching today? All day. All night. Every hour that goes by. I know I am.
My friends write to me don't give up. I am not giving up. I know this is the time for change. But I know that it's not a song. Maybe it was. But it isn't now. It's an action, an accomplishment, a revelation, a new way. I am searching for the people's fuel. Will I find it? Yes. I think so. I don't know why I may have been chosen to help enable a discovery of this magnitude. I know I can only write a song about it when I find it. Until then I can write a song about the search or spend all my time looking. But a song alone will not change the world. Even so, I will keep on singing.

DRAFT MACHINE UP AND RUNNING

The machine is starting to prepare us for the draft. We are hearing about it more and more through the machine's usual channels (spineless media afraid to tell the truth). Of course Bush does not want the draft because the Republicans would lose the election. That is why we haven't had a draft yet and why we might not ever, but it's looking like that is what is needed if the US stays on in IRAQ.
Thousands of our overworked soldiers are exhausted and ready to make huge mistakes that could cause deaths that don't need to happen. Bush and the rest of the war supporters learned well that a draft is bad for elections. Vietnam taught them that. So there as been no draft so far.
When Bush suggests that we are in a war with Islamic Fascists and the future of our democratic way of life is at stake, you would think that in itself would be ample cause to re-instate the draft. But it isn't. We send the same people over there again and again, wearing them out and getting them killed as they make mistakes and commit crimes born of fatigue. This is all so the Republicans can get re-elected.
Blood for politics.

It has been a long process and I almost lost hope,
