Been a while! Haven't done any serious writing for years. When Steffen asked me to write a song for a Streetkiting video it seemed to ignite a bit of a fuse - followed shortly after by the purchase of a Line6 HD300 (effects board) which is the best value for money musical gizmo I have EVER bought and then followed by two new electric guitars - one of which is a Fender Telecaster Baritone (tuned B-B) which is very nice. And so, I've been madly playing electric guitar every chance I get for the last three months. The result is 'Are We There Yet?' All instrumental rock and occasionally jazz-blues. I've decided that 2014 is the year of the guitar!! - John
Something I've been meaning to do for some time now, if you're interested in some guitar lessons - try these: https://youtu.be/0UzY1VZ4xA0 A series of lessons I've put together to help learn play the guitar.
A few months ago I was asked if I could write a song about a power kite . It was a challenge I was happy to accept as I had occasionally thought about writing something about my favorite hobby. Shoot the Breeze was the song I ended up with - I figure if the white water guys can 'shoot the rapids' then us kiters can 'shoot the breeze'. Once I had done the song, I thought about how I would go about making a music video of it (something I had never done). I'm not sure if it's lame, stupid or good.....perhaps all three at once!!! Anywhoo, you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MTHdLhkcrM Let me know what you think! Cheers, John
Well, Que Decree turned up for a week of general mayhem at my place (we get together every 5 or so years) and it just couldn't have gone any better. We managed to record 5 tracks which I'll put both here and on the Que Decree artist page. There's a few photos on the slide show. The band is: Hoges (me) guitar, keyboards, vocals. Smiiiiith (Paul Van Pinxteren) drums, backing vox. Skeet (Peter Neil) Bass. Badger (Nick Wilson) guitar, vocals. We had a blast doing it and hope you enjoy the music. Play it LOUD!!
