Scion is seeking contestants for the 2008 Hypeman Contest, aimed at discovering the quintessential hip-hop master of ceremonies. “Aside from DJs, producers, and MCs, an often overlooked aspect of live hip-hop is the back-up MC and party host, commonly referred to as the Hypeman. Are you hype? You got the skills and knowledge to capture mass appeal? Can you get the party crackin’? Then submit a video, DVD, or CD that shows your Hypeman skills.”
SEEKING:
FEMALE or MALE (18 and over) - Video entry should exemplify entrant’s skills as a Hypeman, “a performer responsible for backup singing (giving the lead vocalist time to catch his or her breath), as well as providing comic relief and increasing audience excitement and participation with call-and-response chants.”

Semifinalists will be notified in December, and will compete at three auditions across the country; three grand prize winners will be chosen.
