What is the top 100 for? Should we have more of a say?
Nov 20, 2008
It seems that some people think the only composers, rappers, or singers that are "Hot" or "Talented" are the ones who already made it... and the ones who sound like those who made it.
First of all, I am humble enough to say that my style and sound are taken from a variation of melodies and styles that I've experienced in my life; things I like with my own personal twist on it. But I am NOT every other Soundclick producer (with all due respect Mister KA, you are NOT my blueprint). Unfortunately, I am not humble enough to hold back the fact that [I believe] I am an extremely versatile, talented producer, and that being said I HATE the fact that many other talented producers (some better than others) get lost in the sea of sound-alike, look-alike, and well, irritatingly uninteresting clones that are out there. HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THE SOUNDCLICK CHARTS? There are no rules in music, that is a universal statement that goes without saying. But regardless, there are things that have come to be accepted among successful people; decent to great mixes, intriguing melodies, catchy tunes, chord progression, though provoking lyrics.. ect. Do we honestly see this in the Top 100? Ask yourself what I've always asked myself for the years I've been on this site, and those alike. Why are they in the charts? The obvious reason is blatant promotion and, or spamming. I get that. But there are a lot of songs in the charts that we KNOW should NEVER be there. We know that. There are some unknown producers here that are INSANE in their production, but rarely see the top 100. There are talentless, pointless songs that make it there, and it's known. What my point in stating the obvious here is just the need to VENT. To let this go, let it out, and feel somewhat relieved by saying at least this ONCE I've stated it somewhere. Shouldn't we have more of a say in who makes the top charts rather than just a simple mathematical fraction of who had the most plays per day? Or is there something I'm blatantly missing that I haven't quite stumbled upon. What do you think about it all?

The music industry has come a LONG way in a short amount of time. Before, getting your hands on innovative tracks before they were released to the public was very expensive to accomplish. Now you can get tracks for as low as $0.99? Get out of here...
