I have always been more of an electric guitar player, ptefering to save and spend my money on a nicer electric and worrying less about the acoustic side. I have owned many acoustic guitars and they have had nice sounds and payed decently, but I always treated my acoustics as practice instruments. Then I finally played a Martin and I woke up, quite suddenly. Wow, I had no idea an acoustic could sound so nice and feel so right. I made my first purchase and chose a Martin JC-16ME Aura and it sounds incredible. As soon as it arrived I started playing (finger-picking mostly) and the melody for 'Acoustic Boogie' came out pretty quickly. I started recording and I feel its very likely the best tune I have completed to date. Please have a listen if you get a chance and I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback and even criticisms. Side note: I promised my little girl Abby that this would be a song for her, so it was named 'PP Boogie' or 'Pocket Pal Boogie' as she LOVES pocket pals. The song is posted as Acoustic Boogie here. -Andy
I took a LONG time away from my studio, had no creativity for many months, no ideas in my head, no real motivation or inspiration to go on, was starting to wonder if I was done. Don't get me wrong, this is just a hobby of mine, as it has been for over two decades, but I felt that there was more that could come out ... Finally, at the end of Oct some ideas started popping back in my head and I started hearing riffs floating around, which is how everything I have composed before has come about. Took me about two days to get Carolina Run out of my head and onto the recorder and I think I am happy with how it turned out -- I hate second guessing and going back to try to redo a song later that I am unhappy with so I usually settle, but in this case I am happy. Thankfully, only a day after finishing the recording I am back at it with another tune, which I am already starting to really dig, kind of a Grateful Dead like jam (I love Jerry's style better than all other guitarists and I love it when I can try to use it in a song). I hope to post it soon. :) -K2 (Andy)
