( bit of history, about your cd, influences, who you've open for, likes & dislikes (could be anything exp. perhaps you like ppl to be honest, upfront, know that you got that person support 100 %)(hobbies) perhaps some advice or insight to fellow artists. ) My name is Stan Cox, I am from Marietta, Oklahoma. I am married to my soul mate, LaDanna, and we just celebrated 32 years together, and we have over 15 children. I say OVER 15, because we have been Foster Parents for years, and even the children that the Government hasn't declared are ours legally, are still ours in our hearts. Breaking it down, we have 5 birth children, and 10 adopted kids, +7. I started playing guitar, and bass guitar, at a early age and by the time I was almost 8 years old I was playing music on a local radio station, doing the Sunday morning Gospel show with my Dad and his Friend. In the early 80's, LaDanna and I, got talked into going to a jam session with my sister and her boyfriend, at a little hole in the wall place in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and I was invited up on stage. I grabbed the bass and spent about an hour enjoying a knocked out band, sang a few songs, and that jam was to change my life. The next day I received a phone call from the club owner that he wanted to 'talk'. My meeting with him ended with me signing up as the bandleader, and building the band as I saw fit. He was in the process of constructing a dance hall/concert center, and I played at Emmett's Oasis for the next 6 years. There I opened for some awesome acts that included Johnny Bush, Jerry Reed, Johnny Paycheck, Marty Haggard, Hank Thompson, & Faron Young. I was hired to play bass for a couple of local shows that Johnny Bush did in our area, and played bass for a local show for Hank Thompson. Hank tried to hire my steel guitar player, but, he ended up sticking with me, ha, I'd like to think because of my talents, but truthfully, it was his family obligations that kept him there. I was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor in 1990, and was told before surgery that I would come out a quadrapalegic, but the Lord was looking out for me, and the tumor and cancer was removed, and after 4 surgery's, I spent the next few years learning to walk and function again. In 1992, I went back to playing music on a full time basis, and luckily I had that talent to fall back on, because my life of hard labor was over. 2nd) Any embarrassing moment in your music career ? : ) Oh plenty of embarrassing moments, but you just pick up and go on, hoping no one remembers them, lol. 3rd) Any Awards ? As far as awards go, LaDanna and I won a couple of songwriting competitions for Kentucky Fried Chicken..only on the local basis..two years in a row, we had the 1st place song, and I think we won a fancy cassette recorder one year, and I don't remember what the other one was. But we got a lot of radio exposure with our songs, that were just entered with acoustic guitar and me singing, and it drove a lot of customers to the place I was playing music. 4th) Do you feel that the internet & online promoting is helping your music career ? The internet has been a great tool for getting some focus on the Indie Artist. I am daily shocked at how many people from across the world that I have been able to share music and friendship with. I met Gary Bradshaw, of Western Heart Promotions on the internet, and between him and Songwriter/Promoter Lonnie Ratliff, they convinced me to 'cut' a album and give it a shot at promotion. I've had a couple of songs to make it to several charts, one of the most successful so far being "Hard Rain Comin' Down", writt
