About 10 years ago, out of the blue, I was contacted by the music director for the video game project, L4D2, the sequel to the Left For Dead first person shooter zombie game. He wanted me to play musical saw on the soundtrack. While asking him about the project, I learned that it was set in the Deep South. So, I inquired whether he had invited someone to play bottleneck slide on the project. The Mississippi Delta was the birthplace of that unique approach to playing guitar. And I've been heavily influenced by the pioneers of that style of playing. I was surprised to learn that the director hadn't considered including that playing style in the mix. So, I offered my talents and he invited me to share both my saw playing and my slide guitar efforts on the project. He ultimately included both my saw playing as the featured instrument on the game's Dark Carnival theme and my slide guitar as the featured instrument on the game's Hard Rain musical theme. Bear in mind, there were only five musical themes for the five levels of game play. So, being chose to have my contributions featured in two of the five themes was huge in terms of exposure for my talents. Since its release, the music for the five themes of the game have been posted on YouTube and players from all over the world have shared their rankings of the themes. While sharing my experiences, related to my part of this multi-million dollar project with fans of the game, I've been asked a number of times to record my guitar part and share it online with fans of the game. I finally got around to fulfilling that request and produced a simple living room audio capture of my guitar part in the Hard Rain theme. The video that I made is an image of me playing my self-built junk art mechanically amplified guitar, accompanying the audio. I posted the video to YouTube, here at my at SoundClick site, on my ReverbNation page, on my Fandalism page and elsewhere online. Enjoy!
This is a real treat! What a surprise to check my ReverbNation page and notice that I'm ranked as their #1 musical artist in the entire Seattle area in ReverbNation's Blues chart! Who would have guessed, that a guy who plays a self-built guitar, made from repurposed junk, could have reached #1 status? I'm not certain how that happened but I really appreciate that it did! I'm also among the top 10 artists regionally, according to their tallies, currently ranked #7. Nationally I'm 228 and rising in the ranks and internationally I'm 330 and rising. Thank you! You made my day, my week, my month, and my year!
I just uploaded a new minimally processed capture of my song, "Poor Johnny" to my SoundCklick song page. In this version, I'm playing my self-made Nobro resophonic guitar. This is the third song that I'm prepping for digital release to about 150 digital streaming outlets. The first two, "The Ruse" and "Keep the Boom Boom on the Hush Hush", are already roaming the vast byways of cyber-multiverse. Enjoy!
I just digitally released my song, "Keep The Boom Boom On The Hush Hush" to the outer webisphere, er, the digital omniverse, uh, the vast and endless cyberscape. Oh, you know the thing, that inflammation stupid highway. Listen for it at all of the usual major streaming sites and some of the obscure minor ones too. It will now be found to listeners everywhere at about 150 online digital music sites. Of course, SoundClick listeners can still enjoy my initial rough cut here among the songs on my page. Thanks for listening!
