A Stranger On Earth - The Dinah Washington Story (about 4 hours ago) I've always felt an emotional connection whenever I sang a Dinah Washington song. Now, after a year of intense research, writing, editing and workshopping. A Stranger on Earth will debut June 21 at 8 pm at the Columbia Theatre in New Westminster. As a singer I have dug deep to refine and define the story of one of musical history's greatest singers. I can't wait to take you on this exciting, engaging and soulful journey of Dinah's life and career through story and song. When I discovered that A Stranger on Earth was the last song Dinah recorded and that she stated would be her biggest hit, the story of her life, that had to become the title of the show! After many months of rehearsal, I performed a small, intimate scaled down version of the show with pianist Ron Van Dyke to see what the response would be, and it was amazing! The energy in the room, the comments, and the total response to the show was overwhelming. We could not have asked for a better outcome. This was when I knew we had a show that was worthy of a large theatre. You can check out small samples of what the show will present to you at www.reverbnation.com/astrangeronearththedinahwashingtonstory Music Director Olaf de Shield an I have put together a stellar band comprising of Nick Apivor on Piano, Malcolm Aiken on Trumpet, Dave Say on Saxophone, Mark Bender on Acoustic Bass and Jesse Cahil on Drums and of course Olaf on Guitar. Tickets are $25.00 and can be purchased online at www.thecolumbia.ca , by contacting Jayleen at jayleen@telus.net or at https://astrangeronearththedinahwashingtonstory.eventbrite.ca/ . Doors open at 7 pm and show is at 8:30.

Hello Everybody, I hope all is well with you all and that life is always finding you healthy and happy. As some of you know, while I was in California this winter visiting my son, the person that I sub-let my place to, someone who I thought was a friend, stole every single piece of me gear.............all the way down to my music stand. Gear that I have been working hard for, accumulating and upgrading for over twenty years. As you all can imagine, to loose ones tools to create, write and perform is a debilitating blow and some of the personal gear such as my vintage, pristine Epiphone acoustic guitar is irreplaceable, but having anything to write on would be grand. Joe, the entertainment manager from the Yale, has contacted me and offered to host a benefit for me at the Yale in order to try to recoup some of the $40,000.00 of gear that was stolen and buy some replacement gear. That date is booked for Thursday the 27th of August and it seems that the date is just flying at me. The entertainment for the evening will be as follows: Andre Benjamin / Billy Dixon Candus Churchill / Cecile Larochelle Christine Best / Dalannah Bowen Kendra Sprinkling / Linda Kidder Rocko Vaugeois / Sarah Flanagan Sibel Thrasher / and myself with my band STONEHOUSE The performers will be accompanied by some of Vancouver’s top musicians such as: Chris Nordquist / Shawn Soucy Danny Casavant / Robbie Montomery Rene Worst / Pete Sweetzir Brock Miller / David Say and more!!! To make the night as exciting as possible we are making it a carnival theme fully equipped with a tarot card booth, a kissing both, a juggler, a magician and a balloon artist. There will be games and give-aways and some very special, very sexy drag queens to sell 50/50 tickets. Tickets for the evening’s events are $15.00 and are available at The Yale, Little Sisters just off of Davie between Bute & Jervis and on line via Pay pall through jstonehouse@shaw.ca. All funds raised at the door, through games, booths and 50/50 tickets will go directly to replacing as much of my stolen gear as possible. What I am asking of you is that you participate by buying a ticket, coming down to the Yale for this amazing line up of Vancouver’s finest performers and musicians and have an evening of great fun!!! If you can spread this on to your friends and contacts via word of mouth or email, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you all in advance for your participation and generosity helping a friend and Vancouver Musician get back on track writing and performing. This was a devastating blow but with the support of friends and loved ones, we can withstand almost anything.
