Band/artist history
My history is in my music. My past cant fit in this box, but I will continue updating as things progress.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, I play every where I'm wanted if possible. I've performed at underground venues to big named places and at my own club I owned here in L.A. "Off The Planet", that I shared ownership with my two partners Trav I & Tech aka Angel for a year ending early this year. We ended the last couple a months with Hawaiian Lyon called the LYONS DEN L.A. where many lessons of friendship, business and loyalty was expressed to the fullest. I remain with a sound out look of accomplishment through out it all. I love long live mash ups which I did with artist such as AZ from up north and Termite from S. Cali. with such MC's as Joseph Israel of the OG first real punk roots and rock band "Bad Brains", from the 80's. And that's filling some hard shoes to fill of "H.R. (HUMAN RIGHTS) 1". It was a pleasure making history with this true to heart & soul. and Peace of the Freestyle Fellowship was amazing in itself. There are many more to speak about but I will leave that to be a surprise for the future. Some of the performances I put in my video archives here on sound click library. The energy is like making love for the first time every time with every moment a unique one every night. Spinning in Topanga Canyon is also one of my most special moments for me.
Your musical influences
GOOD MUSIC falls in many genres that move me. I really love making elements that tickle my inner brain and frequencies that move my spine, and suddenly I'm hoping around and visions are colorful with memories that excite me even if its at a slow pace. And in the same breath (ALOHA), when the music speeds up its in some double time, sometimes triple time 1/2 step, its jazzy its roots rock hopbeep bop dubbed old & new simultaneously existing elements. There's no name for it, you just feel it and move to it. Its pure I feel.
What equipment do you use?
Beat boxing, live drums, piano/ keys, midi elements, Mac's, PC's, Analog, digital equipment, ASR- 10 is my first love next to the SP-1200, and my new peace the MPC- 2500 but, really all the models have a good time stamp that works depending on the mood of the track, and they all have a good bump in of themselves. So, my mind is always recording regardless of the red button being pressed, but don't get me wrong recording is one of the most magical processes I know besides the grand canyon or fossils still in rock formation for the naked eye to see. So never mind the equipment keep recording, four track or hand held joints for $20 dollars at the local corner store. RECORD!
Anything else?
Revolutionary by choice and not for a style point! Changing ones point of view (perception), is a serious choice to make. FOR MORE INFO. ON REACHING OUT TO DJ LYF, PLEASE GO TO: http://www.djlyf.com, http://www.myspace.com/djlyfprod, http://www.myspace.com/djlyf, http://www.tribe.net/djlyf .
