This instrument is a new direction for me as a life long accordion player. I picked up the baritone ukulele a few years ago and love playing it. The songs posted here are for an album I am putting together called "Jugging the Uke", an album of all Jug Band Tunes featuring the resonator ukulele. I am multi tracking all the other parts myself with garage band. Additional instruments are washboard, jug, kazoo, banjo ukulele and various other percussion instruments along with my vocals. I'll be refining the songs posted here and adding other instruments as I see fit in the future. At the risk of the music sounding one dimensional, i.e. one guy doing all the music, I just wanted to do this project. It can be exasperating to pull together a group of musicians for a personal project that has little prospect of monetary reward. I have loved Jug Band Music since being exposed to it in the '60's by the Jim Kewskin Jug Band and have played it ever since. So for better or worse here it is. Ukulele Sam's "JUGGIN' THE UKE" This is fun music that should put a smile on your face, enjoy it.
For those of you who are technically inclined as I stated before I'm using Garage Band to record the tracks for this album. I was originally planning to get an analog to digital converter so I could use the many microphones I possess but my lovely spouse gave me the gift of a MICFLEX USB microphone
($39.99 retail) and much to my surprise it produces very good sound quality. All the tracks on these songs are recorded acoustically into this mic. As you can hear it does a great job on the instruments as well as the vocals. Add a little effects and ta-da you have a decent sounding recording. Thanks for checking me out. I welcome any and all comments.
