Born.
Took up sax at 15, although I was playing other instruments from the age of 6, including piano.
Had sax lessons from various pros.
Played with lots of other artists, including tours and TV appearances with Dave Stewart and Lou Reed.
Currently focusing on doing my own projects but I still freelance with other musicians which I enjoy.
Yes I play live, all over, and I love it very much. Memorable moments were playing at an old army base in Hamburg which was broadcast on radio all across Germany, the Shepherds Bush Empire in London and the Cigale in Paris which is an amazing venue.
Also on the roof of Wendy Hamburgers when I was about 17 on the restaurant's opening day. We could play anything we wanted provided every fourth song was the Wendy Hamburger's theme tune which was just the worst jingle ever. I really hope no-one recognised me. Got a nice tan that day though. :-)
Lots of sax players, but I hope I sound like myself. Various jazz fusion composers, including Bob James, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Miles Davis, Dave Grusin, Wayne Shorter, Don Grolnick and many others I've probably forgotten to mention. I also like funky latin house dance music, especially producers like Masters At Work and try to combine dance music with improvisation etc in my own work.
King Super 20 tenor sax 1948 first series model (the best in my opinion!)
King Super 20 alto sax, about 1952/3.
For recording I use Cubase SX software.
I can blow raspberries with leaves and also imitate an owl by blowing into my hands. I can also recite the alphabet backwards fast and juggle three balls.
