We rock!! And every once in a while, we roll.
Band/artist history
Fulkrum is a 3 piece rock band hailing from Lake Jackson, TX. The band started with founding members; Jay singing and playing guitar, and Hawke playing drums. The two started writing songs, and decided to add a second guitarist, and a bass player. This resulted in Stevo joining on lead guitar, and Rick joining up to play bass. The band started playing at different venues around the area, and began to build a following. After several months of non-stop writing, and playing, Rick decided to pursue other interests. This opened the door for Jay to take over on bass. With the band firmly solidified once again, they began to write and play out once again. The first EP, called "Suicydal Payne", was released in late 2006. It garnered some initial interest from a few independent labels, but the band decided to go it themselves, and formed GMP Records to release their own music. The band is currently recording it's second release, an EP tentatively titled "Finish What You Started"
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes. Wherever we can. We love to play live, that's the whole point of being in an original band. We have special moments every time a fan says they can't wait to hear us again.
Your musical influences
Good music. We are very wide ranging with our tastes in music. My personal favorites are Amorphis, Slayer, Death, Metallica (pre-Justice), Megadeth, Nirvana, Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Thelonius Monk, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Mudvayne, Fair To Midland, Killswitch Engage, Black Sabbath, Dark Imij, Napom, Grendyl, Soul Denied, Eternal Decimation, As We Fall, Lycophile, and thousands more.
What equipment do you use?
We're not picky. If it sounds good, we'll use it. We use BC Rich, Jackson, Gibson, Hamer, and Dean guitars. Line 6, Carvin, Peavey, and Marshall amps. Tama drums, and Shure microphones. D'addario strings, Clayton picks, and whatever cords happen to be at our feet.
Anything else?
There was a man who had worked his whole life in a pickle factory. One day he came home and told his wife that he had been fired from his job. She began to scream and yell, "You have given them twenty years of devoted service. Why did they fire you?" "For twenty years I've wanted to stick my pecker in the pickle slicer," he explained, "and today I finally did it!" The wife ran over and pulled his pants down to see what damage had been done. "You look okay" she said with a sigh of relief. "So what happened to the pickle slicer?" "Well," he said with hesitation, "they fired her, too."
