Baby You Can Drive My Karma The debut album Drive My Karma by singer/songwriter Dean Davidson has received rapturous reviews among music industry executives in addition to a “Karma Revolution” of fan sites on the famed myspace.com. The twelve songs that make Drive My Karma have found a home with Karma 33 Records. John Robertson and Phil Nicolo of Karma 33 Records share a path of good energy with Dean and puts" Drive My Karma" on a road to a positive community. With the digital world of online stores (people shopping from home) and retail stores going out of business, the music industry had a whopping loss of 700 million dollars in CD sales in 2006, while digital downloads have skyrocketed in 2007. Karma 33 and Dean use the internet as a very important instrument for music marketing. Dean states, “This is the future of music and distribution and the future is right now.” Karma 33 records are setting their sights on an exclusive internet release of Drive My Karma. The prolific songwriter has some outstanding artists on board as well. The album features Rob Hyman of “The Hooters” on keyboards, and drummer Kenny Aronoff of John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, John Fogerty and Avril Lavigne. Hyman and Aronoff are a perfect blend with Deans’ organic vocals and acoustic guitar performances. Born in Philadelphia the city of brotherly love, Dean would soak up all the energy from the culture that surrounded him. This energy would transpire into his journals, shaping them into well-crafted songs. Hearing his songs develop in the studio was an amazing high for him. Until now there existed a boundary between Deans’ private work and the public, that has changed. Through life experience his songs have become so personal, that what the public hears now is the closest representation of Dean. “I wanted to make a record that reached the people with a meaningful message. The only way I know how to reach someone is through stripped down three chord songs. The beautiful response that I have been receiving from people is that my lyrics are beginning to unfold a good feeling in their hearts. For me, that’s what it’s all about, having something to say that is believable and meaningful. If you don’t have something to say in a song then the core of the song is hollow. I don’t write songs for any big conglomerates, I write good songs, songs that move me and that move the people. It’s very rewarding seeing someone you don’t know get so affected by the songs you have written. Bill Johnson, a fan in Ohio, sent me email thanking me for a song that I had written. He told me how the song has helped him and changed his outlook on life, to me that feeling is priceless.” Phil Nicolo (engineer/producer) remarks “Dean punctuates his emotions clear across the board. Dean, being a great performer, has a very identifiable voice and his recording production is organic and honest.” Phil Nicolo, who has a busy stable of multi-platinum artists, knew he had a very seasoned artist and record with Drive My Karma. “Working on this record with Dean was a pleasure,” Nicolo continues (laughing) “It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.” The Audience Plays a Big Part ”I like to connect with the people live on stage one on one, where I can feed off of their energy. At the same time, they feed off of my emotion. Live on stage is where I am really at home and most comfortable. I believe destiny isn’t fate. Karma drives on the road you’ve paved.
