Who am I? I'm the next big thing to happen in music!! Lyrical, revolutionary and creative, Khali is a breath of fresh air from the average rapper and a new sound for the south.
Khali's first official start in the record industry started at age 19 when he wrote and produced his first project entitled "The Embryo" (1999) released under an indie label called Darkside Records. The album showed that Khali was a charismatic, imaginative and lyrical artist. Shortly after, Khali joined a group called the Presidential Playaz based out of Tennessee. The group released their first project entitled "They Don't Know" (2000). It received a small amount of success but was merely a set up album for their sophomore project entitled "2001 The Anthem" (2001) which ultimately gave the group there most success. Turmoil began to develop among the group members and they never released another project. Khali continued his career by joining forces with another young prodigy named Daryl Hill also know as Hotep. They created a group called Th-Amenisty (pronounced: the ministry) and released the underground acclaimed project entitled "Ragnarok" (2002). After many attempts to shop for management, distribution and radio play Khali went back to the drawing board. He realized that he needed to create a buzz for himself. The product of that thought was his second self released project entitled "Seize Tha Time" (2006). "Seize Tha Time" is truly some of Khali's best work to date. The lyrics and music production is a combination of gut felt oration and jazz/funk/soul fuzzed together. Khali's subject matter is social commentary relating to everyday situation all people face. Khali is rare because his music deals with reality in such a way the listener can relate easily to what is being said. Songs like "When U Die Where U Go" and "Young and Black" take the listener on a journey with a revolutionary. When this emcee gets his chance to display himself to the world it will be a refreshing experience for Hip-hop music. And there is a possibility that he may even change the game.
I play live where ever I get the chance. Most of my performances have been in Louisiana and Texas. I will travel and perform if it is financially practical.
My musical influences are rap's earlier emcees Ice Cube, Scarface, Tupac and a lot of others. Old school soul, R&B and Funk have played a major influence on my sound. Jazz has also impacted my music greatly. Artists like Najee, Grover Washington Jr., Spyra Gyra and others have enchanted me with melodies.
