Band/artist history
"I know the price of success: dedication, hard work and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen." - Frank Lloyd Wright” It is my honor to proudly introduce you to the birth of Dynisty, the musical duo of Jarrod Saunders and Emmanuel Aboagye. A name perfectly suited for the mission and purpose of this revolutionary Hip-hop production team. The South African-based duo has combined five years of hip hop music experience to produce their first single, the utterly addictive, sometimes comical "Stereotype", which has exploded onto the underground scene with rave reviews from peers and music professionals. The group has established itself as a giant in the underground field of hip hop production, with self-produced beats and original lyrics; with one ear to the past and the other in tune with the future. There is nothing esoteric about the hype that surrounds Dynisty. The in-demand group/production team is continuously working with hardcore rappers, smooth crooners and local rock bands. These boys have got what it takes to become the next big thing, at least that's the consensus of everybody who has heard them thus far. Not the Stereotype... A highly productive team, their music developed at a rapid pace, beginning with an elementary R&B sound which later developed into the multifarious sound they have today. As traditional musical genres blur and barriers break down, Dynisty are at the cutting edge of the next generation of innovators, indulging in a mélange of production techniques that covers rock, funk, soul and pop. Dynisty is not only renowned for their music production but also for their versatile and soul-moving lyrical content. When it comes to their writing craft these guys have the Midas touch. These maestros use singsong flows, elaborate rhyming schemes and clever lyrics on certain tracks, while delivering a serious message and staying on-point on others. Dynisty has managed to put a lot of thought into their lyrics while still remaining commercially strong. These boys have the right ingredients for a perfect recipe - proof that good lyrics and good music can be a simple yet potent combination. Q: What first made you guys show an interest in music? Jarrod (24) : I've always had an interest in art in general - music, fine-art (painting), movie making, basically anything that involves creativity. When I met Eman he was really into the same things and one day I just kinda' went up to him and was like, "Hey, do you want to do music?" And that was it. We connected straight away. At a very young age Jarrod took piano and keyboard lessons and began playing and arranging music professionally while still in High School. "I learnt the basics when I was young and now I mainly play and produce music by ear." In 2001 Jarrod obtained his diploma in Sound Reinforcement from The Harbour School of Music and went on to be a part-time sound engineer for River Park Inc. It was here that Jarrod began to broaden his musical horizon by mixing live concerts and doing sound for television broadcasting. Q: What do you guys think about music at the moment and the direction its taking? Emmanuel (25) :I personally feel there is a void, a lack of originality and creativity in the music industry today. Everybody seems to be running after the next hit and focusing on bling bling' instead of real lyrical craft and making good music. Coz it's like anybody can rap just like anybody can paint; but not everybody can turn it into art. Emmanuel understands lyrical craft. With his razor sharp lyricism he truly has an artistic flair. He not only received Poetry Awards in High School but also attained his black belt in Martial Arts at the young age of seventeen. It is this determination that makes him a potent rapper and an ever-evolving musician. Poetry written by Emmanuel has even been selected by the Poetry Institute of Africa to be published in the Anthology book entitled Soulfully Seeking'. He has also studied IT (Information Technology) at W.S.U where he won achievement awards for both Entrepreneurship and Business planning. Q: Why haven't you guys signed up with any of the major record companies yet? Jarrod : That's a good question. We've been trying to find a record company that is able to help us develop as artists and is willing to finance our ideas and projects. Unfortunately nobody has offered us anything that we couldn't do for ourselves. We don't want to be another group on a label that receives no attention. Dynisty recorded at RPS Studios at the SABC studios in Johannesburg, one of the leading recording studios in the southern hemisphere. As young and developing artists they are eager to test their music on the public and continually perform in and around the East London area. The release of the Stereotype Demo EP led to many radio stations around South Africa play-listing the singles Stereotype, Silly Rabbit and Mother. The result was a huge uproar from the public demanding to know more about Dynisty. Their website (www.dynisty.co.za) went on to receive over 100 000 hits within only a few months, attracting the attention of local and international hip hop fans. Q: What do you see yourself doing in the future? Emmanuel : Music, music and more music. Honestly for me, my goal is to win a Grammy. People say that it's not about the awards, but really why run the race if you're not running for gold? Nobody runs in a race for the fun of it. You run to be the best (He chuckles). I'd also like to work with other aspiring artists. I'd also like to do some acting. I know Jarrod has written a few screenplays that he'd like to direct. So we definitely have some aces up our sleeves. In 2007, after gaining a large amount of experience and knowledge about the music industry, the duo launched their own independent record label, Dynisty Entertainment. They are currently working hard on developing their first release - a full length album titled Potters Pass. The rise of the label has also seen the company venturing into other forms of promotion including a clothing label, Dynisty Apparel (DA). You can be sure that you'll be hearing more from these young talents as they continue to dip their fingers into all sorts of different creative ventures. It is our firm belief that the music of Dynisty will soon become a force to be reckoned with. It is truly geared for the International market. Dynisty can be best described as a combo of two talented and ambitious musicians ready to explode on the competitive musical industry. All that is needed to ignite the fuse is "opportunity".
