We, the Have-Nots, of V-Town, do hereby play fast, moderately melodic, rock music that is most commonly referred to as "punk". We have appeared on numerous compilations, and have a 14-song "Self-Untitled" CD available. We also appeared on the soundtrack to the video game 'Motoracer 2', and can be seen in the movie 'Trekkies 2' (performing under the name No Kill I: Deep Space Nine)
We are from Vallejo, CA, in the northeast San Francisco bay area. We have shared members with other local bands such as Bottomdawg, Eskapo, Downward Hierarchy, Static Thought, and Exit Wounds. We have been around since the mid-90's.
It all started when Jamie and Mike wanted to start a band. Jamie on Gee-tar, Mike on Bass. They started writing songs. They recorded them onto a karoake machine using thier friend Jason's drum machine, since they didn't have real drums. Then Rob Ivey started playing drums with them. Next Mike Lawson (now of the Sims fame!) joined the band as a second guitarist. They played shows, played live on the radio once on DJ Yo Mama's Children's Hour on KZSU. They recorded a few songs at Art of Ears studios in Hayward. They and fellow Vallejo band, Bottomdawg, did the complete soundtrack for the video game 'Motoracer 2'. They recorded a bunch more songs at Art of Ears. The next couple years saw a line-up change in the band, with the Winders brothers, Luke and Shiloh, taking over on guitar and drums, respectively. They went to the studio to record a few more songs, then produced and released thier own DIY, Self-Untitled CD. They played some more shows, Jamie got married, and his wife Nelia then gave birth to their first daughter Adrienne. Then in 2004, Yet another line-up change has brought Joe Coughlin (formerly of Bottomdawg) in as their third drummer (They are beginning to feel like Spinal Tap!), and an as-yet-unnamed second guitarist. They are now playing shows and are in preparation to record a new CD, using even more DIY means than EVER!!!! And Jamie and Nelia are expecting their second child!
Yes. Anywhere we can. Weve played bars, backyards, keggers, third story apartment kitchens, youth centers, punk clubs, auditoriums, and garages.
