Desert Sunrise

I'm a pro musician-singer, guitarist and songwriter. I wrote, sang and played lead guitar on all the songs posted here. They are from our CD "24/7" by Kirk Baldwin/Beats Workin'. I'm originally from the Chicago area but have lived in New Mexico in the Albuquerque area since 1985. I've mostly played Country music here, but have had a few blues and classic rock bands as well. I still visit the Chicago area every year, and recorded "24/7" with the band there. I still perform in the Albuquerque area, and am also an astrologer and Tarot card reader. I am also a Permaculture design school graduate. I got into music in 5th grade, taking up cornet and singing in the school choir. I took up guitar in 1964, and started writing songs the next year.
Band/artist history
Kirk Baldwin/Beats Workin' formed back in 1968 at Twin Lakes WI where we all had summer homes and spent every summer growing up together. A number of us took up music in the mid 60's, and eventually a gigging band coalesced that played around the Chicago-SW Wisconsin area for a few years. We got back together a few years ago to record "24/7", which is stylistically what we played back then.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I had a long running gig in Albuquerque at the Caravan East country nightclub 1986-2016, as house band, on the rotation, and freelancing. In 1991-93 I played 7 nights a week as the Happy Hour house band, which often doubled as a Blues band playing late gigs on weekends.
Your musical influences
Chicago Blues-Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Wille Dixon, Buddy Guy, Magic Sam. Also BB King and Albert King. Rolling Stones, Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, CCR. Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones. Bob Wills.
What equipment do you use?
I use my vintage Fender Super Reverb Blackface. Reverend Spy, Fender Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, Gibson ES 335, and Gretsch Electromatic Electric Guitars. Guild l 50 and Guild 12 string acoustic guitars. Dobro resonator guitar, Washburn mandolin, Marine Band harps.
Anything else?
As Beats Workin' is strictly a studio band, I'd be interested in being part of a touring and recording Americana (country, folk, blues, roots rock) band with a focus on but not strictly original music.
