It's 1992 in South Los Angeles, a transformation is about to take place that will undoubtedly be recognized as a pivotal point in the history of music. Immersed in hip hop and seeking new avenues of expression, a 14 year old breaker/graffiti artist picks up a steno pad and a ball point and scribes the first of many rhymes that subsist deep within his soul.
From that point on, The ParanormL knew he had found his true calling. Deeply inspired by innovators like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief, he started the group S.H.P. (Seventh Heaven Planets) and began rockin' shows. The ParanormL produced, recorded, mastered, and performed on all of S.H.P.'s material, including the group's two albums ("Re-Evalution" & "Chemistry"). This experience served him well as he has matured and naturally progressed into one of Undergorund's most respected solo acts. On his first solo release, "Refrain from the Mundane", The ParanormL recorded 21 classic Hip Hop tracks featuring Crag Malkovich, Johnny Five, RedCloud, Earthworm & more.
The future is now, and while hip-hop is clouded by wack beats laced with simplistic fairytales and blatant fiction, The ParanormL drops his 2nd solo album "The PortaL" with stark contrast. 13 revolutionary tracks of banging beats, intertwined with mesmeric melodies, and conceptual lyrics delivered with unadulterated veracity. "The PortaL" takes you on a multi-dimensional journey back to hip-hop's roots and through it's rewritten future. Phoenix Orion of Alien Nation, Neila from Nomadic Sound System, and Gentle Jones heard on IllBoogie Records' last Compilation, three of the underground's most brilliant emcees, join The ParanormL on his quest to revolutionize Hip Hop and bring it out of it's current state of disarray.
The ParanormL has performed live on the same bill with acts like - Abstract Rude, Pigeon John, Neila, HipHopKlan, Xololan Xinxo, Konfident, Halifax Allstars, Redcloud & more.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Phoenix Orion first turned heads at local clubs in NYC -- most notably at the legendary Giant Step -- as a guest MC. Eventually, he produced a demo that surfaced on both coasts and led to an underground following thanks to his dark, apocalyptic view of the future and the intergalactic beats that accompanied it. PXO's dystopic perspectives were further explored on his 1999 debut full-length Zimulated Experiencez, which included collaborators Hive, Daddy Kev, Hermes, and DJ Rhettmatic (of Beat Junkies fame). He returned in late 2001 with Secret Wars, recorded for the Meanstreet label and is featured on Linkin Park's Rnw@y (Reanimation Album).
