Founded: Hudson County, New Jersey 2009
The idea of the FEMA GANG! movement was discussed amongst a group of friends who share a common goal. This goal is to bring aid and relief to our entire generation, which appears to have lost its lust for creativity and originality.
When we began organizing our group, we felt the hip-hop genre was losing its life. Record sales were declining, record labels don’t invest time developing new artists anymore, and talent showcases are run by people looking to get paid instead of looking for talent. Nas strongly expressed his opinion about the status of hip-hop when, he released his song “Hip-Hop is Dead”. We don’t feel hip-hop is dead, but it needs a change of direction. These perceptions lead us to name our group the Final Era of Muzik Ascending or F.E.M.A for short. Hip-Hop is at a weaken state or as we call it, in its final era. We believe our music can help bring hip-hop back to where it should be, ascending and progressing as a genre.
As months passed, we discovered our group has tremendous amounts of raw talent not just in music but art as well. Along with our way of life as free sprinted, open minded, peaceful, and kind people. So, we decided to change the acronym to Freedom & Equality thru Muzik & Arts. We feel we can bring this much needed change. This change is not only in the music and artistic aspect, but change in the world through our music and artistry.
The FEMA GANG! is more than just the music and art. It is a lifestyle and a culture of its own. The direction of the FEMA GANG! is aimed towards a new state of mind and prosperity. Staying positive during negative times is something we live by. In our music and artistry you will witness a barrage of emotions as they come. Whether it is pain or joy, we are doing nothing less than keeping it real.
