Song and my tribute remaster Always appreciated. Sorry to hear your wife is ill.
Hope she is on the mend. Now that golf is winding down I will be more active musically as hibernation mode is starting. Winter. Grrr

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement Steve.
The next album is already well underway and should be out early next year with a downhill breeze.
Onwards!

Hi Steve - glad to hear you’re still treading the boards!
The Yammy AC5R is superb and I’m enjoying it a lot. My hands nearly stuck to a Martin D35 the other day but I resisted - I really don’t play enough acoustic to justify one but it was nice to dream!
The new album is up - not by The Smivets but by a mystery band called Norman Bisley and the Trousers of Satan.
Essentially the same members as The Smivets but shuffled around.
There’s an artist link to them from my main member page.

Hi Steve
Profuse apologies for the late reply but it was genuinely great to hear from you.
You asked about songwriting process and whether I write lyrics first, and the answer is “sort of” - I’ve found over the years that if I finish all the music first and then try to fit words to it I always get stuck - it’s hard to make words fit a tune. But it’s even harder to make music fit a set of lyrics. So what I do now is start with a musical idea ( a riff or a chord sequence or melody), then write the full lyric. That way gives me an idea of mood and how the song is going to feel. Then finish off the music. Sometimes you have to go back round and tweak the lyric again to fit until you have a song that feels right. I do all this in midi, so I can change the key and tempo easily. Eventually I’ll end up with a song structure that I’m happy with. Then (and only then) do I get the real instruments and mics out and start recording. Sounds painful but it works for me. Hope that helps?

Hi Steve, thanks for the very nice comments about Cloud City Re-visited. Oh yes I had a bunch of fun playing with the Synth settings on my Yamaha keyboard.
Cheers.

Thanks for the comments. Oh and your video is very nice too. What's not to like about a classic Bad Company song done so well, as you have...love it.
