I spent a long time at university studying music and so I know tons about the avant-garde. But what always excites me first about any music is the sound. And so I've spent a life in music looking into sound and how it works, from traditional studies of the stuff we all think of as "music", to soundscapes, perception and noise. So the music you'll hear from me goes many different places. I'm not a one-genre kind of guy. My music runs the gamut from gutsy to cerebral, placid to intense. To hear more, go to my web site at johnolivermusic dot com. I've got music out on about a dozen different CDs.

What if you want to listen to music for reasons other than dancing and mating? That's where what I'm doing comes in. I've been dancing inside all my life. That's the kind of music I make: there is an inner dancing. Some of the very intense tracks you'll hear of mine are usually about politics and social issues, like OVER THE EDGE and GIVE US PEACE. Then there is the reflective side...such as LIKE THE SEA AT SUNRISE. The main thing is to hop genres if you have a curious mind. John
