Since I can't remember when I haven't been on stage, we'll just say; since I could walk and talk. My vocal pursuits began in the church where I always ended up as the soloist in the front row. Going back over forty years would take a bit of doing. I've been a local Phila. performer in numerous area clubs and churches. I've been fortunate enough to work with some of the best in the business; predominantly in jazz. My nickname is Jazz and I was on here, in a regular site. I'd like to be the supporter of the up and coming artists; I've had my time in the spotlight, but still like to steal it when I can. I'm perhaps the most proud of my professional album, "Generations of Love". I've had the pleasure of working with Richard Bredice, Karen Hammack, Jack Prather, Paul Kreibach and too many to mention. I studied the flute since the age of eight, performing as solo chair with several bands and orchestras.

Jazz Writes and Sings for You-How it Started/How to Join

Several years ago a young woman, impressed with my poetry gifted a site to me. It was like a dream come true. My mother was of Welsh descent and my benefactor was from Wales and 100% Welsh. I could see my mother smiling, in my mind. Little did I know that Emma was terminally ill and this was her last act of kindness. Young, intelligent and beautiful; the world suffered a huge loss. The site was supposed to be kept going, however, the owner never returned my calls and it disappeared. Watching it grow very quickly in a short amount of time, it couldn't die, I had to do something. I'd never built a site on my own, links, setups, files, music contributors; this was scary and exciting. Some people from a site I still visit thought I was full of bologna; not anymore. One musician said thanks for the links, but never paid any attention, so I dropped him. This site is for dedicated people, not to be confused with a site that posts anything. Another poet said, "My poems are here, take what you want." It doesn't work like that, you submit and I decide whether or not it's quality work that needs publishing. If you don't have a professional attitude, go elsewhere. The site will always be free to visitors. I pay the monthly fee, buy the mp3 music, unless it's donated, and make sure copyrights aren't being violated. It’s also my job to link, link, proof, rearrange, and keep the site fresh and I'll stop there, because my new section-Mythology and also The Phoenix has many interested people. There's a lot of research to be done. My helper is without a computer right now; I'm typing poorly, due to a bad hand and forget when I last slept. My support system and cheering section are more help than they realize. http://www.jazzwritesandsingsforyou.com/ Google Susan Johnston Owen, I'm all over the place.

Seeing as I can't comment on the music page I'll do so here, 'hope you don't mind...
Man, you make some fine sounds, the piano is played with great sensitivity (is it you?) and your vocals are full of feeling and grace, very nice:).
Cheers,
Mauri.
