Don Kayvan is a producer / rapper from Washington DC with California roots. Kayvan grew up playing viola and piano winning many awards on the east coast and midwest. Don Kayvan started making beats in college then moved to Los Angeles. After working at several prominent recording studios as an engineer he created the rap group Rap is Poetry in 2012.
Kayvan is known for his trap infused neo soul production and rapping on any type of beat ranging from dubstep to gangster rap. The songwriting process involves lots of going ham with a Blue mic Spark and choppin' it up on an AxiomPro keyboard. Beats are made using a seamless blend of Reason 6, Logic 9, Sony Soundforge and Protools 9 w/Mbox. Kayvan makes original beats, songs, covers and samples on occasion using a custom sound library and Komplete 8 Ultimate by Native Instruments.
