Hey StrangeOnes! Just a quick note to let ya'll know I'm back in Ft. Worth and rockin steady! Surgury wen't well, however all projects are now on hold pending the reformation of Strangefire. Upon leaving Florida, Strangefire disbanded once again, but prospects are good for the reformation. Tak is collaborating with and interviewing several musicians for a new release, already written but yet to be recorded. This will be the 3rd rendition of a musical project spanning 8 years. Stay tuned and StayStrange!

This is just a short update to let our fans know we wont be doing a StrangeTour as planned for this summer due to Taks' minor heart surgery. Not a real big deal for him, but he says in good humor "It must have got broke one too many times!" We wont just be laying around on the beach however. Our last CD (renamed "Embers") is still in copyright litigation, but it looks as if we will be able to re-release sometime later this year and will be able to publish here on SoundClick shortly there after. We apologize for the wait. We are also compiling material for the upcoming LIVE release of "Strangefire..Smoke and Mirrors" a compilation from StrangeTour '09. The line up will include live verions of "Hands of Time", Date With a Razor", "Embers", Black Heart", "Manipulative @#!*% ", Sometimes", "2019", "I Used to Love You", "What Time is It", "This is Your Life" and MANY MORE! We hae a Tentative release scheduled for Dec. 2010 and of course the CD will be available here. We'd like to than our fans for their continued support and patience, and we'd like to invite you to StrangeWorld (http://www.strangefire.ning.com) for great music from other artists plus a lot of good poetry, digital art, videos and more! Til next time StayStrange and keep on rockin!

Review Of Strangefire's Ezion By: Ned Raggett
Mar 24, 2008

Review by Ned Raggett Having explored a queasy, often cryptically angry style of shadowy psych-tinged rock and roll on earlier releases, Strangefire on Ezion manage to sound more direct and more alien than ever, with songs ranging from orchestrated prettiness to squelching, echo heavy murk that could almost be dub productions. The lengthy album's seventeen songs have a lot of ground available for the duo and they live up to it, vocalist/guitarist Mike Ash's more straightforward work consistently tweaked and distorted by Tak!, handling everything else. While Ash hasn't always hid his darker lyrical side, the vicious growl of songs like "Reason Not to Rewind" seems even stronger than ever, making the compressed sound of the soloing all that darker. Elsewhere "Crazy with the Zombie Cart" pursues a related feeling, lyrically and musically, towards its somber, gentle guitar conclusion, while "Rolling Blackouts," oddly enough, sounds a bit like a tribute to Placebo (or at least Brian Molko's rapid fire singing/lyrical style) while still being a Strangefire song with the swathes of echo and acid-fried edge. Strangefire can't seem to do a straightforward song as such, to their credit, and if the influence of Bobb Trimble's at once accessible and unsettled arrangements hangs heavy, they do provide their own clear take on the approach, more willing to step away from formal song structures. Meantime, the sheer disorienting quality of many of the performances remains a signature element of the band's work -- the cyclical bass swells and muffled percussion of "Corkscrew Turncoat," the overlapping radio broadcasts and surreal lyric imagery on "Mushroom Skyrise," the preternaturally sweet keyboard melody and shifting vocal volume on "Zero Point Field." Strangefire's continual balance between the willfully obscure and the immediate continues to pay dividends, and quite why they're not more well known among modern psychedelic types remains a mystery.

We all have dreams and hope that they just might come true. Glad your operations went well and sorry for the band break up, but new horizons are just around the corner for those who are faithful and true. The Lord will guide you to your wildest dreams if you put your faith in Him. We tend to put our faith in the wrong places and so we are lead down paths that are as crooked as the day is long. Hope all goes well for you in the right directions. Let spiritual gifts be your path and your path will flow smoothly. Trus not in yourself, but in Him who will take you where you have never been before this day.
Blessing, John

Hey Tak!
I hope your surgery went well, or is going well. I am having a minor surgery done to my ticker as well. Nothing major, just a little Star Wars in my chest. Version 2 of the site and player is coming out next week sometime. Drop me a line for info. cos@elephantradio.org
