Louis Larouche received a First Prize in Trumpet from the Quebec Conservatory of Music. Prizewinner of a Canadian Arts Council grant, he completed a degree at Boston University with Roger Voisin. Louis has been featured on numerous recordings for CBC as a soloist and has toured in Canada, the U.S., Peru, and Chile. Specialized in the repertoire for trumpet and organ, he performs frequently in jazz and popular venues. He also teaches classical and jazz trumpet. A composer, he has written over 30 pieces in different styles such as jazz, Latin, and fusion. Louis' classical expertise does not prevent him from participating in jazz and popular musical Radio-Canada television broadcasts, often as guest soloist. He has accompanied artists of international reputation on stage and in recordings. Well-known, also, for his artistic innovations, Louis is creator and founding president of the Ars Musicum Workshop which has introduced thousands of children throughout Canada and the United States to the family of brass instruments. The book "Trumpet Game Book" was inspired by this musical adventure.

Following the completion of his classical trumpet studies in 2006, Vincent Bilodeau teamed up with his former trumpet teacher Louis Larouche to create Underset. Primarily intended as an experiment to blend jazz elements with a dark-sounding background, it quickly became a serious project for both musicians as they continued writing and recording on a regular basis. Blending elements from various jazz, rock and electro influences, Vincent Bilodeau creates the foundation of Underset’s musical universe as he plays Rhodes, piano, guitar, bass and drum programming. Louis Larouche performs trumpet lines and solos that complete the picture, along with touches of piano and synthesizer work. As an accomplished trumpeter with an extensive solo and orchestral career in both classical and popular music, Louis Larouche’s creativity has been sparked in a new direction by his contact with the musical world of Vincent Bilodeau. Underset is presently completing its first album.
